The local North Jakarta Livestock, Fishery, and Marine Sub-Department ensures that traditional markets selling chicken meat in North Jakarta are free from formalin. Therefore, local residents should not be afraid and do not need to worry to consume chicken meat.
We didn't find formalin in the markets
Such information was obtained after formalin test conducted in 12 traditional markets. From 96 chicken meat and intestine samples taken in May and June, there is no found formalin.
Those samples were taken from Malaka Market, Tugu Market and Lontar Market in Koja, Hibrita Market, Mandiri Market and Pedongkelan Market in Kelapa Gading, Sunter Hijau Kirana Market in Sunter Jaya, Anyar Bahari Market in Tanjung Priok, Pademangan Timur Market, Pademangan Barat Market, Royal Market and Teluk Gong Market in Penjaringan.
Fish with Formalin Found in 4 Markets in North Jakarta"We didn't find formalin in the markets," expressed Head of North Jakarta Livestock, Fishery, and Marine Sub-Department, Sri Haryati, Monday (6/16).
Besides chicken meat, Haryati continued, officers also inspect meat meatballs sold in such markets. Of the 24 samples, they are not containing pork. "The samples are free from pork," she explained.
She asserted her sub-department will keep monitoring traditional markets ahead of the fasting month. Moreover, many traders use the fasting month to get more benefit by selling chicken meat containing formalin.
"We're targeting to check 1,152 samples in each market this year," she uttered.
